About/Contact

They say you should write what you know.

Screw that. I write about what I want to learn.

I love the license for curiosity that being a journalist gives me. It’s better than any press pass, and even when they close the newspapers down they won’t be able to take it from me.

My writing, on basically every subject under the sun—science, technology, business, food, health—has been published in the Washington Post and sister publication Express, in National Geographic News, Newsday, and many other magazines, newspapers, and websites.

As for editing, I’ve spent the last year guest editing for Smithsonian.com’s Life in the Anthropocene and Journey to the Center of Earth sections, shepherding stories from idea to completion.

I’m also the former editor of Elevation DC, a Washington, D.C. news site.
