Don’t Eat Breakfast.

By Rachel • Jun 30th, 2008 • Category: Blog

On Saturday, I took a walking tour of local Alexandria restaurants. As much fun as this sounds like it was (and it was), it was work! The write-up will come out at some later date. I don’t want to give too much away ahead of time, but it was a lot of fun and I learned an important lesson: Don’t eat breakfast before going on one of these. I haven’t quite mastered the Tom Sietsema trick of only taking a few bites unless it’s spectacular, so I filled up incredibly quickly and honestly was feeling a little ill after dessert. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t like I was choking down bad food–in fact, everything was delicious. But I’m learning that a food critic needs to only eat the stuff that goes beyond delicious, into the realm of the phenomenal, or pretty soon you’ll find yourself like that guy in the Monty Python sketch.
